Licence to Operate a Slewing Mobile Crane

TLILIC908A - Licence to Operate a Slewing Mobile Crane (up to 60 Tonnes)

This unit covers the operation of a slewing mobile crane of up to 20 tonnes [C2] or up to 60 tonnes [C6] capacity that incorporates a boom or jib. It includes articulated type mobile cranes and locomotive cranes, but does not include vehicle tow trucks.  The work required in this unit relates to the National Standards for Licensing persons performing high risk work.

Course Content:

  • Introduction
  • Relevant Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
  • OH&S policy
  • Codes of Practice
  • Risk assessment and hazards
  • Inspect chains, wire ropes and slings
  • Calculate SWL (safe working load)
  • Crane controls and functions
  • Planning multiple lifts
  • Pre-operational checks and site / job planning
  • Set up crane, Operate, Shut down and pack up

Course Pre-requisites:

  • You must be 18 years of age or over
  • Read and write English to a basic level
  • Have the necessary health and fitness to carry out the work safely 

Assessments:

  • Practical Assessment
  • Written Assignment
  • Knowledge Assessment

Duration:

  • 5 - 6 days depending on experience and course numbers

Certification:

After successful completion of your course you will be issued with a Worksafe Notice of Assessment which will immediately entitle you to perform work until you receive your card. We also issue a Statement of Attainment stating the unit achieved and process your Worksafe paperwork for you. All units can contribute towards completion of RII20209 Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations.
