These units cover the conducting of backhoe/loader operations in the mining and extractive and civil construction industry.  They include: planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating backhoe/ loaders; lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, removing and fitting attachments; carrying out machine operator maintenance; and cleaning up.

  • Risk assessment and hazards
  • Backhoe and loader attachments
  • Conduct routine checks and plan work
  • Safe Operations
  • Shift load
  • Shut down equipment and secure site

Course Pre-requisites:

  • Read and write English to a basic level
  • Have the necessary health and fitness to carry out the work safely  

Assessments:

  • Written Assessment
  • Practical Assessment

Duration:

  • 1 day for training and assessment
  • 3 - 4 hours for experienced operators, assessment only, must supply work history

Certification:

On successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet sized  plastic card stating the unit achieved.
