These units cover conducting grader operations in the mining and extractive and civil construction industries. They include planning and preparing for operations, operating graders, carrying out post-operational procedures. The work required in these units relates to the National Occupational Health and Safety Certification Standards for Users and Operators of Industrial Equipment (NOHSC: 1006).

  • Introduction
  • Relevant Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
  • OH&S policy
  • Codes of Practice
  • Manufacturers’ specifications and instructions
  • Risk assessment and hazards
  • Grader attachments
  • Conduct routine checks and plan work
  • Safe Operations
  • Shift load
  • Shut down equipment and secure site

Course Pre-requisites:

  • Read and write English to a basic level
  • Have the necessary health and fitness to carry out the work safely  

Assessments:

  • Written Assessment
  • Practical Assessment

Duration:

  • Training – Dependent on numbers and experience.
  • Assessment - 3 - 4 hours for experienced operators, assessment only, must supply work history.

Certification:

On successful completion you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet sized plastic card stating the unit achieved.
